How to Transfer a Car Title in Alabama

  1. Sign Title: The seller must release ownership on the Certificate of Title.
  2. Execute Bill of Sale: Complete this MVT 5-13 compliant Bill of Sale with Federal Odometer Certification.
  3. Submit to DMV: The buyer presents this form to Alabama Department of Revenue (ADOR) to pay state vehicle sales tax and complete registration.
